Kent moved to Moses Lake with his family in 1948 at the age of eight. In 1957 he graduated from Moses Lake High School. He has attended Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, and Big Bend Community College. He spent three years in the United States Army, two of which were in Germany. In 1964, he married Pam Fisk, and they have two children, Bryan and Amy. Pam is involved with the Moses Lake Sister City Program and Greater Miss Moses Lake Pageant Committee. Bryan works for CBS Radio in Portland Oregon. Amy is a math teacher and volleyball coach at Moses Lake High School.
